Hello 2010!!

The theme for me for 2009 seemed to be baby steps.  Baby steps towards getting healthy.  Baby steps towards new directions.  Baby steps towards my 25 Days of Thanks.  Baby steps towards love.  Baby steps toward life.

I going to continue the step theme this year but no more baby steps.  This time, Shaquille O’Neal steps.  Some things have got to change in 2010.  I think I waited too long for the change to happen instead of going out there and making it happen.

Ever seen Evan Almighty?  It’s definitely not winning any awards but there’s one scene that I saw today that hit pretty hard.  To set it up, Morgan Freeman plays God, and during a scene with Evan’s wife, explains to her how to get through some troubles she’s having.  Here’s the line that I’ll probably remember for a long time:

Let me ask you something. If someone prays for patience, you think God gives them patience? Or does he give them the opportunity to be patient? If he prayed for courage, does God give him courage, or does he give him opportunities to be courageous? If someone prayed for the family to be closer, do you think God zaps them with warm fuzzy feelings, or does he give them opportunities to love each other?

The point that I see in all this is that I can’t take advantage of too many opportunities by taking baby steps.  2010 will be a year of bigger steps.  2009 was a great year.  But 2010, I have no doubt, will be a year to remember.  Hope it’s the same for you.  Happy New Year:-)

Thanks for reading.  My 25 Days of Thanks will be completed soon!  Also pictures from the holiday including why my dad looks like he does in the picture below,

why if one picture is worth a 1000 words

what does the follow up picture say?,and how I hope I’m this happy at 90 and wearing a hat like himHappy 2010:-)

That is my most favorite part of that movie!!! 🙂 Its how I try to think about life too 🙂 And trust me, its hard to remind myself that it works that way when I hate how things are working out. But Romans 8:28 Mr. Spain —>

(Meanwhile, the moment we get tired in the waiting, God’s Spirit is right alongside helping us along. If we don’t know how or what to pray, it doesn’t matter. He does our praying in and for us, making prayer out of our wordless sighs, our aching groans. He knows us far better than we know ourselves, knows our pregnant condition, and keeps us present before God. That’s why we can be so sure that every detail in our lives of love for God is worked into something good.)

    Have a great 2010!
